The Southwestern Community College District is one of 72 community college districts in the California Community College system. It is a single campus District with locations in Chula Vista, National City, San Ysidro, Coronado, and Otay Mesa. The District is the only public institution of higher education in South San Diego County and serves a multicultural region that extends all the way to the U.S.-Mexico border. Currently, the District employs about 1,200 faculty and staff and serves a multi-ethnic student population of more than 18,000 students.

The District offers extensive opportunities in fine arts, dental hygiene, basic academy, health sciences, communications, language arts, career technical education programs, adult learning/workforce development, math/science/engineering, social sciences/international studies, technology/human services, business studies, and an aquatic center located near Coronado. The campus provides wonderful services for students in the single point of contact for admissions/counseling/financial aid, a fully equipped student activities center, and a contemporary library/learning resource center. Southwestern College's (SWC) Child Development Center provides convenient, affordable daycare services to SWC students, faculty, and staff, as well as the residents of nearby communities.

Southwestern Community College District does not discriminate against any person in employment, or in any program affiliated with the District, on the basis of age, ancestry, color, ethnic group identification, national origin, religion, race, gender or sex, sexual orientation, physical or mental disability, veteran status, or on the basis of these perceived characteristics, or based on association with a person or group with one or more of these actual or perceived characteristics.
