RICHMOND, Va. – The Colonial Athletic Association has released the 2020-21 men's and women's basketball conference schedules on Wednesday morning.
The conference slate includes its usual 18 games but the format has been adjusted from previous seasons to limit travel and help ensure the health and safety of student-athletes, coaches and staff. Teams will play the same opponent on consecutive days with the only exception coming against each program's travel partner.
James Madison women's basketball will kick off the 2020-21 CAA basketball schedule on New Year's Day, when the Dukes welcome Towson to the brand-new Atlantic Union Bank Center. Men's basketball's first conference game is set for Saturday, Jan. 2, on the road at Towson.
Throughout the CAA season, the men's and women's schedules will mirror one another, with each program facing the same opposite at opposite venues.
The first home men's conference game will be on Monday, Jan. 4 against Towson. The Dukes will play their first set of back-to-back games on Jan. 9-10 against UNCW, with the women playing host and the men making the trip to Wilmington.
The following weekend the men will host Elon for their first home weekend while the women will hit the road and take on the Phoenix in the Schar Center. JMU wraps up January with contests against Northeastern (Jan. 23-24) and College of Charleston (Jan. 30-31).
JMU takes on in-state foe William & Mary to commence action in February (6-7). Over Valentine's Day weekend, the Dukes battle with Hofstra followed by going up against Delaware. (Feb. 20-21)
The Dukes will wrap up the conference slate on Feb. 27-28 by taking on Drexel. Further details, including game time, will be announced at a later date.
