As many of you have seen, outside Chicago this weekend a 6-year-old Palestinian boy was senselessly murdered, while his mother remains in critical care.
We want to make sure you saw this terrible story and our statement, as well as the statement from JCRC Chicago. If you need support issuing your own statement, please do not hesitate to send us an email.
As you know, a core function of Federation work is community relations. For decades Jewish Federations have worked to foster civic engagement and build deep-seated relationships on the local level, strengthening the fabric of civil society in communities across North America, and building a more interconnected community for us all. Which is why we must publicly affirm that there is no place for this kind of hate in our society.
It is also important that as we support the vital and critical work of the Israel Defense Forces as it fights against Hamas terrorism and other regional threats, we condemn the spread of hatred and violence as a result of this conflict.
These crimes also affirm the need for increased funding for the vital Nonprofit Security Grant Program, which Jewish Federations are actively advocating for.
The Community Mobilization Center is monitoring major developments in Israel and North America related to Israel’s war against Hamas. The Community Mobilization Center will rapidly disseminate resources to help mobilize and support our local communities as they build and sustain civic and political support for Israel in this conflict. The work of the Community Mobilization Center will continue as long as it takes Israel to eradicate the terrorist threat and restore security to the country.
