Mobilizing mental healthcare professionals for Israel

Calling for mental healthcare professionals to volunteer for Israel.

The Second Line initiative serves as a platform to support frontline trauma and mental care in Israel.

Second Line was formed in the aftermath of the October 7, 2023 attack on Israel in collaboration with the Israel Ministry of Health and the Israel Trauma Coalition, supported by the Jewish Federations of North America (JFNA) and Birthright, and is focused on the global recruitment and deployment of mental healthcare professionals to travel to Israel or to volunteer remotely to provide individual and group care to affected individuals, families, and local mental healthcare professionals working on the ground in Israel.

Direct Care Program

Travel to Israel for a period of six weeks to three months to work with citizens who suffer from anxiety or trauma. Seeking mental health professionals.

Remote Care Program

Volunteer to be matched via Zoom with Israelis (both in Israel and abroad) who are in need of psychological care. Seeking mental health professionals.

Long Term Direct Care Program

Exploring opportunities for licensed professionals to travel to Israel for an extended period of time, one year plus (Program under development).

While the physical harm from October 7 is mostly accounted for, the mental toll from that day will never be fully quantified.

Second Line: Supporting the mental healthcare frontline in Israel.
