Operating Room Observation Request for Monroe Carrel Jr. Children's Hospital at Vanderbilt

Hello!

You are completing this application to observe in the operating room at Monroe Carell Jr. Children's Hospital at Vanderbilt. This application should take no more than 10 minutes. You MUST include your OR observation date in the application, which you will need to confirm with the physician, provider, etc. you are approved to observe.

Once you have submitted the application, you will be provided instructions regarding next steps. Once approved, you will be contacted by the OR Educator, Kaitlynn Lineberry, to setup your observation.

You are NOT allowed to come for your observation until you have received an approval email from Kaitlynn Lineberry. It can take UP TO 5 business days to receive your approval email.

**ALERT**

Observations in the VCH OR or Cath Lab will not begin again until March 1, 2022.

VCH OR Observation Limitations

Observations will only be allowed on Monday-Friday. Some dates will not be allowed, based on scheduling and will be displayed in the observation calendar within the application, below.
All observers must arrive at 7:30am for their observation. No observations can be scheduled for arrival later in the day.
Each observer will be allowed 1, 8 hour observation (VOE - VUMC Employees) or 1, 4 hour observation per school year (VU HPAO/AED Students).
There will be a MAX of 2 students/observers permitted in the VCH Procedural Area per day.

VCH OR OBSERVATION CALENDAR

Information

If on the day of your observation you are ill (cold symptoms, fever, etc.), please email Kaitlynn Lineberry (kaitlynn.lineberry@vumc.org) to reschedule your observation. You will not be allowed to observe in the ORs or Cath Lab if you are ill.
If you come to the observation with cold/flu like symptoms, you will be sent home.
If the observer/student is in OR or Cath Lab and the patient is COVID+ or on any form of isolation precautions, the observation experience will end and the student will be required to leave the observation experience.
