Jazz & Friends National Day of School & Community Readings

February 24, 2022

The Human Rights Campaign Foundation’s Welcoming Schools Program and our co-sponsors, The National Education Association and the American Association of School Librarians, invite you — our friend and ally — to join us in our 7th annual Jazz & Friends National Day of School & Community Readings on February 24, 2022.

This year, we are excited to showcase four books: Born Ready, Calvin, I am Jazz and From the Stars in the Sky to the Fishes in the Sea. When students read books where they see characters like themselves who are valued in the world, they feel a sense of belonging. When students have the opportunity to learn about diverse backgrounds, languages, abilities and perspectives, they develop an understanding about the wider world.

Join parents, caregivers, educators, community and religious leaders and students for community readings and discussions. Sign up to host a virtual or socially distanced event in your community. By registering below for a reading by 2/10/24 we’ll enter your name in a drawing to receive a copy of the book Calvin! There is no obligation on your part to take any action or purchase anything! We’ll reach out at the email address provided below to coordinate delivery if selected.

You will also receive a Jazz and Friends organizing kit in January with book discussion guides and ideas on hosting a successful reading in your community.

You'll receive email updates from HRC. You can unsubscribe at any time. By providing my mobile phone number, I agree that HRC and its agents may contact me by mobile phone call and text message regarding HRC programs, events and membership.
