Announces additional appointments will be made throughout June

Governor Laura Kelly today announced Shelly Buhler as her choice for the Washburn University Board of Regents, ahead of the June 30 deadline for the current expiring term. There are nine seats in total for the board, three of which are appointment by the Governor.

“I’m pleased to appoint Shelly Buhler to Washburn’s Board of Regents,” Kelly said. “She will provide new insight and bring a wealth of knowledge and experience to the University.”

Previously, Buhler was a Shawnee County Commissioner. Buhler also recently served as Mayor of Rossville and is currently president of Hayden Catholic High School.

The appointment of Buhler to the Washburn University Board of Regents reflects Kelly’s strong prioritization of education in Kansas, as well as her commitment to the people of Kansas to engage quality community leaders on behalf of the state.

Kelly will be filling a significant number of vacancies in the coming months in her effort to rebuild Kansas, including new vacancies and expirations as well as a number of positions left unfilled by previous administrations.
