Received a redshirt from the NCAA with the season’s suspension on March 12 and cancellation due to a coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic. Competing as a junior in 2021.

2020 (19 Games)

As a batter
 Started in 18 of 19 games during the 2020 season • had a batting average of .233 • scored seven runs on 14 hits • recorded 10 RBI • hit four doubles and one triple • hit two home runs • went on a five-game hitting streak in the middle of the season (3/1-7) • recorded a .600 fielding percentage and one putout • hit game-winning home run over Middle Tennessee (2/15) • served as DH

As a pitcher
Transitioned to a starting role after serving as the closer in 2019 • made four starts and threw a team-high 24.1 innings • featured as the Tar Heels' Friday night starter • recorded a team-high 21 strikeouts • punched out a season-high seven batters against Dallas Baptist (2/22)  • finished with a 2.22 ERA


2019

Appeared in 27 games, all but two out of the bullpen, going 6-4 with 3.12 ERA • Untouchable in the ACC Tournament as threw 8.2 innings over three games with seven strikeouts and just one run allowed • Best performance came against Georgia Tech in the title game when he threw 3.2 innings of relief, striking out three and conceding two hits and a run • Struck out 56 in 52 innings and had three saves • Career-high five strikeouts vs. Winthrop • Struck out three in a strong performance against Duke on 3/30. 

2018

Pitched in relief in 27 of his 28 outings • Went 3-3 with one save and a 3.96 ERA •  Struck out 43 batters and allowed a .191 batting average in 38.2 innings • Earned his first collegiate win on 4/3 against South Carolina in a four-inning appearance, striking out four and not allowing a run • Picked up his first conference win at Virginia on 4/14 with three innings of relief, striking out two without giving up a hit or a run • Notched his first career save at NC State by striking out three • Pitched in four postseason games and was instrumental in UNC’s Game 1 win over Oregon State in the College World Series, tossing 1.1 innings of no-hit ball, while striking out two.
