2023 (Super Senior)
  • Played in three games started in 1 (Northern Arizona 11/18/23) while missing eight due to injury
  • Had a tackle for loss against Weber State (10/21/23)
  • Recorded four tackles on the season.
2022 (Redshirt Senior)
  • Played in and started four games, tallying 11 tackles, two pass breakups, and a quarterback hurry. Injured in Week 4 at Florida.
  • Set a new career-high with six tackles against Oregon (9/10/22).
2021 (Redshirt Junior)

2019 (Redshirt Freshman)
  • Named to the Big Sky Conference All-Academic team.
  • Started three of the 10 games he played, and made his season debut at Washington (8/31/19).
  • Closed the year with 17 tackles, 2 passes broken up, and 1 interception.
  • Made the first start of his career against Northern Arizona (11/2/19) and finished with five tackles, a pass broken up, and a quarterback hurry.
  • Had his first career interception versus Idaho State (11/9/19), and had four tackles against Montana (10/26/19).
2018 (Freshman)
  • Redshirted, but played in four games in accordance with a new NCAA rule that allows student-athletes to play in up to four games and still redshirt.

  • The Vikings advanced to the State 3A championship game where they lost to O’Dea 38-11.
  • Rainier Beach won preliminary playoff games against Mt. Spokane (28-21), Peninsula (37-28), and Garfield (49-21).
  • In his junior season in 2016, Rainier Beach finished 8-3 to advance to the State 3A Playoffs and won the 3A Metro League Valley Division title with a perfect 5-0 record.
  • Also earned all-league recognition as a junior and sophomore.
  • EWU teammates Anthony Stell Jr. and Frederick Roberson also graduated from Rainier Beach in 2018, and their coach at Rainier Beach was Darrien’s father, Corey Sampson. Sampson also played basketball for Rainier Beach, which won the State 3A title his sophomore season and finished 23-6 after beating O’Dea 70-49 for the title.
