Career (entering 2023)
  • 45 games of experience, while starting in starting in 12 games.
  • Has 47 career catches for 599 yards and eleven touchdowns
2023 (Redshirt Senior)
  • Preseason All-Big Sky selection
  • Earned All-Big Sky Second-Team at Tight End.
  • Played in 10 games while starting in nine.
  • Had three receptions with 32 receiving yards against Idaho State (10/14/23)
  • Had a career-high five catches and a touchdown at Montana State (11/11/23).
  • Recorded another five-catch game the next week with a career-high 80 receiving yards and a touchdown in his final game vs. Northern Arizona (11/18/23).
2022 (Redshirt Junior)
  • Big Sky Conference All-Academic team.
  • Played in all 11 games, making one start.
  • Hauled in 9 receptions for a total of 119 yards (13.2 per reception) and 2 touchdowns.
  • In the first game of the season against Tennessee State (9/3/22), he caught two passes for 37 yards and a touchdown, including a season-long of 23 yards.
  • His 2nd TD (20 yards) came in the final game of the season against Northern Colorado (11/19/22).
2021 (Redshirt Sophomore)
  • Played in all 13 games, making two starts.
  • Caught 13 passes for a total of 208 yards (16.0 per catch) and 4 touchdowns.
  • Scored in each of the first two weeks (at UNLV on Sept. 2 and vs. Central Washington on Sept. 11).
  • Had another touchdown against Northern Colorado on 10/23/21.
  • His longest play of the season came against Weber State (10/23/21), a 30-yard TD from Eric Barriere.
  • Season-high 39 yards total against Portland State (11/20/21).
2020-21 (Redshirt Freshman)
  • Big Sky Conference All-Academic team.
  • Played in all seven games catching 4 passes for 26 yards and 2 TDs.
  • Had a 3-yard TD catch versus Northern Arizona (Mar. 6) and then an 8-yard score one game later versus Idaho State (Mar. 13).
2019 (Freshman)
  • Redshirted, but played in four games.
  • Made his Eagle debut against Montana (Oct. 26).
  • First career catch was a 15-yard TD on a fake FG against Idaho State on Nov. 9.
  • Made his first career start against Cal Poly on Nov.16 as EWU started the game with three tight ends. Gobel provided the big block for a 25-yard rushing gain by Talolo Limu-Jones.
  • Selected as the “EWU Teams” offensive player of the year.
  • Offensive scout team player of the week twice.
High School
  • Graduated in 2019 from Banks HS.
  • Recipient of the Johnny Carpenter 4A/3A/2A/1A Prep Athlete of the Year Award, which has been presented since 1966 to the most outstanding male high school athlete in Oregon.
  • Helped lead three teams – football, basketball, and baseball – to State 4A championships as a senior, becoming just the second team in the history of Oregon State High School athletics to win three state titles in one year.
  • Three-star recruit by 247Sports.
  • In three varsity seasons, he accumulated 22 total touchdowns at tight end on 88 receptions for 1,236 yards.
  • At defensive end he had 39 total tackles over his career, 11 tackles for loss, and an interception.
  • Earned First-Team All-State honors as a senior (47 receptions, 689 yards, 14 touchdowns) as Banks won the state title.
  • Twice he earned first team All-4A Cowapa League honors.
  • Caught six passes for 88 yards and a TD in a 31-20 victory over league-rival Seaside to capture the state title, plus added six tackles and a sack on defense.
  • Was coached by Cole Linehan.
  • Was the Oregon 4A Player of the Year in basketball as a senior after earning Second-Team Prep Hoops All-State honors as a junior.
  • In his senior season, Banks finished 28-3 and won the title at the State 4A Tournament. Gobel was an all-tournament selection.
  • Averaged 14.6 points, 8.7 rebounds, 2.6 blocked shots, and 1.6 steals per game, and scored 24 points and had 13 rebounds in a 62-56 win over Seaside in the championship game.
  • Helped the Braves finish 26-4 the year before and advance to the semifinals of the State 4A Tournament. 
  • Gobel drove in the first run of the baseball state championship game, along with securing the win-clinching out at first base in the seventh inning.
  • Earned all-league honors in baseball as both an infielder and pitcher, hitting over .300 as a senior with an earned run average of less than 2.00.
