2020 Academic All-Big 12 Wrestling First Team

2019-20 SEASON (SOPHOMORE): Named to the Academic All-Big 12 Wrestling first team...Competed at 141 pounds...Compiled an 11-8 record including 3-3 (0-2 Big 12) in duals with three pins and a pair of major decisions...Runner-up at Bison Open (11-9-19) with a 3-1 record...Won the Ridgewater Open (2-1-20)...Finished with 2-2 record at the Southern Scuffle (1-1-20)...Career 21-24 record including 4-10 in duals with four pins and four major decisions.

2018-19 SEASON (FRESHMAN): Gained invaluable experience at 141 pounds...Compiled a 10-16 record including 1-7 in duals with two major decisions and one tech fall...Went 1-2 at the 2019 Big 12 Wrestling Championships (3-9-19)...Dual win came with a 9-5 decision over South Dakota State's Aric Williams (2-15-19)...Placed second at the Jimmie Open (11-3-18), fourth in Finn Grinaker Open/Gold Division (11-17-18) and sixth at the Bison Open (11-10-18).

2017-18 SEASON (REDSHIRT): Redshirt in the program...Wrestled unattached at 133 pounds...Put together a 14-11 record including five pins, a pair of major decisions and a tech fall…Placed in top four in 4 of 6 open tournaments including runner-up showing at the North Country Open (1-27-18)...Went 3-1 including a fall and major decision … Placed fourth at the SDSU Daktronics Open (11-5-17), the Bison Open (11-11-17) and in the Dragon Open/Red Division (12-2-17)...Went 2-2 at the Reno Tournament of Champions (12-17-17).

HIGH SCHOOL: Four-time Montana Class A state champion for Belgrade High School and head coach Sean Dellow in four different weight classes, 98, 113, 126 and 138 pounds … Compiled a career record of 158-10 including a 47-0 ledger as a senior...Competed in cross country and track and field...Montana state runner-up in cross country...Regular on the honor roll.
 
PERSONAL: Majoring in business administration...Son of Terry and Jane Degen...Has four brothers, Jarrett, Lyle, Brandon and Richie, and two sisters, Lacey and Mandi...Brother, Jarrett, competes at Iowa State.
