GLIAC Announces Men's Basketball Schedule

Following the GLIAC's announcement on Wednesday indicating the resumption of conference play in basketball, soccer and volleyball this spring, the league announced on Thursday (Nov. 12) the tentative schedules for the men's basketball season.

Teams will play an 18-game schedule beginning the weekend of Jan. 7 with the regular season weekend concluding the weekend of Feb. 25-27.

The schedule will be unique from any that has been played in the GLIAC previously but limits the amount of travel each team will face while dealing with the COVID-19 pandemic.

Schools will play two-game series on consecutive days against each scheduled opponent. Precise dates and times will be announced at a later date.

A determination of whether fans will be permitted in basketball venues will also be made at a later date. The format and schedule for the GLIAC Tournament has yet to be determined.

The Eagles went 17-12 last season and advanced to the conference tournament for the sixth straight season. Ashland returns three members of its starting lineup from last season, including reigning GLIAC Freshman of the Year Brandon Haraway, All-GLIAC second team standout Aaron Thompson and senior forward Derek Koch.

Head coach John Ellenwood is entering his 12th season at the helm of the program. He has 221 career wins, including 188 as the second-winningest coach in AU history.
