The phrase "half-em spaces" is confusing, in that it implies extra characters being added to the model, not simply creating space in the layout of the existing text. I would argue that implementing mojikumi aki with actual "spaces" would violate the content vs presentation rules.

There are approximately 98 instances of the word "spaces" in the document, most of those are referring to mojikumi aki.
