Marzia Habib-Hassan - LL.B, MSW, RSW

Marzia Habib-Hassan (LL.B, MSW, RSW) is an internationally recognized expert on parenting and couple and family relationships. Her work aims to strengthen families by focusing on psycho-education, personal development, relationship skills training and mindfulness. Her practical, research-based advice combines spiritual values with intentional action. Marzia is the author of an upcoming book for parents and families entitled "Parenting in the Age of Facebook", published by Rupa Publications, New Delhi, India.

Marzia serves her clients through her private practice based in Toronto, Ontario. She also provides online counseling and consultancy to an international client base. The online counselling experience is modeled, as closely as possible, to in-person counselling and are governed by the same professional ethics and standards of practice. Marzia runs workshops on various parenting and relationship topics, both in person and through webinars. Workshop participants find her to be an inspiring, compassionate presenter who is skilled at creating a safe environment for participants. Marzia is frequently consulted by media as an expert on family relationships. She also chairs the board of Jaffari Support Services, a faith based social services agency that she helped found in 2008. In 2013, Marzia was honoured with the Canadian House of Commons award for Outstanding Volunteer Achievement in recognition of her work to strengthen families and empower women in various minority communities in Toronto.

Bethany Good - MSW, RSW

Bethany’s clinical social work experience has focused on children and adult mental health and has included both out-patient and residential treatment programs. She is a Senior Social Worker at the Hincks-Dellcrest Centre in Toronto where she has worked for 10 years and currently provides individual therapy to adolescents. Bethany received her BSW from Ryerson University and her MSW from the University of Toronto. She is currently a fourth year PhD student at the University of Toronto, Factor-Inwentash Faculty of Social Work. Her doctoral research focuses on how technology and new media use by families and adolescents is addressed and integrated into social work practice. She is also a course instructor at University of Toronto and a research coordinator on a Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council funded project.

Dr. Norm Forman

Dr. Forman is a Registered Psychologist and has taught in schools at the primary, secondary and university levels. He has also worked as a school psychologist, a director of student services, a consultant to Bloorview Children's Hospital, and as an advisor to Children's Services in the Ontario Ministry of Health. For almost twenty years he has been deeply involved in supporting, promoting and furthering the cause of parents advocating for their children with special needs.

He has conducted numerous presentations and workshops for organizations, agencies and groups on various aspects of effective advocacy practices. Dr. Forman consults regularly with parents and other stakeholders and attends a wide variety of meetings with parents in public and private schools and works primarily with kindergarten to grade 12 and, at times, beyond. Dr. Forman is considered to be one of the leading parent advocates and trainers in Canada.

Dr. Forman is the author of "Exceptional Children - Ordinary Schools" published by Fitzhenry and Whiteside.

Dr. Hamid Slimi

Dr. Hamid Slimi is a prominent Imam in Canada. He is the Founder and President of Faith of Life Network. He has been serving as an Imam, Chaplain, Educator and Consultant in Canada for over 15 years in different religious and educational institutions.

Dr. Slimi's traditional and academic speciality is in Islamic studies and Law as well as Comparative World Religions. In addition to the traditional degrees known as Ijazah, he holds two Masters degrees with High Honors in both disciplines from Morocco and the US and a PhD in Islamic Law from the U.K. He received both his traditional and academic learning in Morocco and attended other renowned institutions and universities in other parts of the world.

Dr. Slimi has been educated in Arabic, French and English since his early age as a little child. He received intensive training and learning in many Islamic disciplines including Aqeedah, Fiqh, Usul-ul-Fiqh, Maqasid, Tafseer, Seerah, Qur'an and Hadith Sciences and 'Ulum al-Lughah. Both His Ijazah and Graduate Shahadat are in Fiqh - Islamic Jurisprudence - and Usul-ul-Fiqh - Fundamentals of Jurisprudence. His extensive research has been in the field of Jurisprudential Rules, the Science of Maqasid (Objectives of Law) as well as al-Fiqh al-Muqaaran (Comparative Jurisprudence) in the Four Madhabs.

Dr. Slimi has been representing the Muslim community at many Multi-Faith Councils and in the continuous Interfaith Dialogues. He is also an adviser and consultant for a good number of different local and National institutions.

He has authored a few books and articles in Arabic and English specifically in Usul-al-Fiqh and Muslim Outreach and he wrote a few papers in French mainly in Islamic Jurisprudence. His book published in 2001 and 2002 "Terrorism: An Islamic Perspective" has been widely distributed among thousands of readers in North America and did receive very positive responses and encouragement. To this date, Dr. Slimi has hosted and produced over 200 TV Shows and over 200 DVDs and hundreds of CDs on different subjects related to faith and life matters.

He appears occasionally as a guest and consultant on local and national TV networks both in English and French and had his own weekly TV Show which he has been airing all over Canada and other countries continuously for more than four years now.

Dr. Mohammad Zubairi

Dr. Mohammad Zubairi is a Developmental Pediatrician currently working in Toronto and Waterloo. He is pursuing a Masters of Education through the Ontario Institute for Studies in Education at University of Toronto, along with a Clinical Fellowship. He is also a Research Fellow at The Wilson Centre a world leader in advancing the education and practice of health care professionals through research. He has been an active member in the community sitting on the board of Physicians of Ontario Neurodevelopmental Advocacy (PONDA), Development Section of the Canadian Pediatric Society, MuslimFest & the Muslim Medical Association of Canada, all groups engaged with education and outreach. He lives in Toronto, and enjoys reading, playing racquet sports, and spending time with his family.
