Audiobus: Use your music apps together.

What is Audiobus?Audiobus is an award-winning music app for iPhone and iPad which lets you use your other music apps together. Chain effects on your favourite synth, run the output of apps or Audio Units into an app like GarageBand or Loopy, or select a different audio interface output for each app. Route MIDI between apps — drive a synth from a MIDI sequencer, or add an arpeggiator to your MIDI keyboard — or sync with your external MIDI gear. And control your entire setup from a MIDI controller.

Download on the App Store

Audiobus is the app that makes the rest of your setup better.

FCBFF -- Behringer FCB1010 programmer

Folks -- if you happen to own an FCB1010, you should check out our new app -- FCBFF, your Foot Controller's Best Friend Forever. We're making it free for a few days. And if you're thinking of getting an FCB1010, you might want to pick the app up.... The app will also do basic emulation of the FCB, so you can use it that way too.

We've also got MIDImorphosis on sale (MM has MIDI learn, so you can toggle on and off pitch-to-MIDI, polyphony, and so on, using the FCB).

FCBFF is a MIDI-only app, so no Audiobus, but I figured some of the folks here might be interested.

Give me a shout if you've got questions!

  • Woo-hoo thanks!

  • May the gods bless you and yours! And universal??? What a win. Thank you!

  • Wow ! I was just thinking about how cool it would be to rock my fab with iPad but I've been discouraged because of the headache. Will this work with the uno chip?

  • @Ferretstyle69 -- sorry, no support for the Uno. The app only handles the stock Behringer firmware.

And yeah, the hassle of programming the FCB kept me from using it very much, which is why I wound up writing the app. Writing the app was probably easier than programmer a bank of pedals manually.

  • @SecretBaseDesign Thank you so much for this app. A couple of questions.

Could the ability to share presets be possible?

Could you just send changes to preset 2 or 5 without rewriting everything?

What about copying pedals or presets within the app. say I want bank 1 and 2 to be the same but I want the expression pedals to be different. It seems right now I would have to manually go in and configure each button individually.

I know that is still a lot easier than tap dancing around on the FCB1010 but hey give us an inch and we will ask for it to make us breakfast.

  • @gmslayton --- the presets are available with iTunes file sharing. Things are saved as MIDI SYSEX files, so you should be able to grab a SYX from somewhere on the web, drop it in, and load it onto the device (and reverse direction too).

V 1.1 will add support for copying and pasting presets and banks.

  • cool thx @secretBaseDesign
know i really thought about to get one

  • Anybody using an FCB1010 seriously has a UNO chip. You might want to think about getting one and adding this feature.

I find the FCB1010 rather easy to program - although I admit I always have to check the manual after some time when I want to change a parameter, I'll never keep the procedure in my mind. I'm not sure what is better, to hook up an iPad to the FCB1010 and use the app, or a quick look into the manual.

Anyway, many thanks for the app, and that it is free for early birds!

  • @secretbasedesign - HOLY CRAP THANK YOU!!! I'm loving you right now. Doing anything complex with the FCB1010 is a goddamn nightmare. YOU ARE THE MAN!

@joshuajonah - I use the FCB1010 seriously. I don't have, never have had, nor do I need an UNO chip. It makes it easier to program and enables a stomp mode. Otherwise? meh.

  • This company friction rules. WOW, me and my homie have been to hell and back trying to get these damn barengers foot pedals to do what we want! This solves it!

As a side note you can totally rip off berhingers name and stuff cause thats like all they do. At least with pedals, blatant ripoffs. I still like them for it and their cheap "get you by " stuff. Their MIDI foot controller was actually one of their well built and unique products.

  • Oh, and get midimorphisis if u haven't, so dope. If U use it for abelton recording and then just quantize your playing afterwards or move it a tiny amount back as an audio file its like THE golden midi recording thing. I use it with an 8 string NS stick and it tracks it. And now with icade and stomptwatch, Im wigging out on how cool this app company is. hails.

  • Wow. Thanks so much. Already have midimorphisis.

First of all I wanted to thank the developer for making this app.
I have constructed a few different pedal setups for use with different apps and am now having problems getting them into the pedal.

I am using the Yama Bluetooth midi adapter to connect the fcb, I am just realising that because I have to power off the fcb to begin transfer the connection is lost each time.
Just wondering if there is anyway around this as I don't have wired midi anymore.

Also if people have found good uses for the fcb and iOS in general that would be appreciated!

Yow! Downloading the FCB programming over Bluetooth is tricky -- but I think this should work.

    1) Do the pedal stomping to put the FCB1010 into "ready-to-receive" mode
    2) Plug in the Bluetooth MIDI adapter to the FCB, and get it sync'd to your iPad
    3) Run FCBFF on the iPad, select the Bluetooth adapter, and then do the download.

Then -- pedal stomp again to save the configuration on the FCB1010. After that, the pedal should be ready to go -- fire it up, set up the BT connection again, and see if it's working.

I use my 1010 in wired mode -- my MIDI keyboard goes to the MIDI IN of the FCB1010, and then MIDI out/thru goes to my Focusrite Dock. I use the pedal to trigger things in my MIDI looper app (toggle on/off record, etc), and to switch effects on guitar amp simulators.

  • Hey, @BlueGreenSpiral,
When you bump an old thread with such a salacious title, it can have unintended consequences. A person of my age can’t deal with the high hopes and quick letdowns that brought on

  • Doh! Didn't realize the title was still there (well, OK, I didn't look). Fixing now.

  • Aaah! Can't edit the thread title (maybe too old? I recall being able to do it).

Sorry folks who stumble on this -- the app was free for a little bit when I launched (more than two years ago), but I've got to charge a little bit just to cover the tech support hassles. And with the FCB1010, there are hassles...

I rigged up an old 30 pin irig midi via an adapter and it surprised me that it worked fine. I have my setups transferred and this app has saved so much time!

Sorry if I gave anybody false hope, I will say that this is a great companion to the fcb so far...

I just discovered Fcb switches sending midi notes to effectrix is very satisfying :)

  • Finally working out how Enso by Audio Damage has made me ponder my barely used and intimidating to programme FCB1010 that’s sat in the garage. At 15 quid, does this app really change the programming workflow and why can’t I find more resources online to look at it deeper? Does it still work on new OS?
