Toledo Rotary’s 4-Way Test Speech Contest-90 Second Version
Toledo Rotary’s 4-Way Test Speech Contest-90 Second Submission Rules (2021)

The 4-Way Test Speech Contest is an annual opportunity for Toledo area high school students to share their perspective on important issues in our world today and apply the Rotary 4-Way Test.

Just as the past year has been full of twists and turns, this year Toledo Rotary is adding a few twists of our own to this contest: we are asking students to focus their speeches on one of the following topics: social media, climate change, or civics. Additionally, entries can be no more than 90 seconds in length (points will be deducted for going over). Contestants can prepare a video with facts, statistics, stories, examples and quotations. The speech should be memorized. Notes may be used but reading directly from notes is discouraged. No displays, props or prompting are allowed.

The 4-Way Test is what Rotary is built on:
1. Is it the TRUTH?
2. Is it FAIR to ALL concerned?
3. Will it build GOOD WILL & BETTER FRIENDSHIPS?

4-Way Test History:
The Rotary "4-Way Test" has become an important fixture in Rotary. From the early days of the organization, Rotarians were concerned with promoting high ethical standards. One of the world's most widely printed and quoted statements of business ethics is The 4-Way Test, which was created in 1932 by Rotarian Herbert J. Taylor.
