The Asian, Black, Latino, and SOGIE Caucuses of the Society for Research on Child Development will be hosting joint mentoring events at SRA in San Diego on Thursday, March 19 and Friday, March 20. Space is limited. Deadline for application is EXTENDED to Friday February 28, 2020.

Speed Mentoring on Thursday, March 19 (3:45 PM - 5:15 PM) and Reception (6:30 PM - 8:00 PM). In this event mentors will be prepared to answer and discuss questions such as "What is your single best piece of writing advice? How did you recover from your biggest failure? What are the best ways to connect with busy professors?". Mentees will also have the chance to ask any burning questions they have to the mentors.

Panel discussion + Lunch (12:15 - 13:45 PM) on "Things We Don't Talk Enough About in Academia: Imposter Syndrome, Rejections, and Burnout" on Friday, March 20. Panelists will discuss some of the challenges in academia as well as offer their own strategies and advice on addressing these challenges. The panel is inspired by a recent paper by Jameka et al., 2019 (Perspectives in Psychological Science) that addressed these important topics.
