DiggerDen: Need Tutors/Mentors!
Complete this form if you are interested in working as a mentor or tutor for DiggerDen. In this role, you'll help tutor and/or mentor the next generation of students interested in math and/or science (inc. computer science). We will evaluate any application submitted here. If you pass the 1st step evaluation, then you will be contacted for an interview. Thanks for your interest in working for DiggerDen!
Current opportunities (both are PAID opportunities) with DiggerDen include:
1) Be a tutor at a local middle/high school tutoring program in math/science. For this work, you would need to be available from approximately 3:00pm to 4:30pm on at least one day/week (Tuesday or Thursday). Prior to tutoring, the middle/high school teacher would spend ~15 minutes with you to share details on what the students are working on. We will form car pools to get to the school.
2) Be a mentor at a Denver high school. For this work, you would need to be available 2x/month on Fridays from 11:30-1:30pm (beginning in November and ending in May). Students and mentors follow a facilitated set of activities to encourage students to envision potential educational and professional paths. Most work will be over Zoom, though mentors will go to the high school twice and students will come to Mines twice. You should have some experience in the computer science area since we will be supporting a CS class with this project.
