ACSS Travel Grant Application
Purpose: The intent of the Arizona Council for the Social Studies Grant Awards support is to provide financial support to assist ACSS members in travel expenses to present at out-of-state conferences or workshops and to encourage all members of ACSS to present at national and regional events. Preference may be given to first time member applicants.

Recipients are expected to acknowledge support from the Arizona Council for the Social Studies by naming ACSS as an organizational affiliate in the conference program and/or in the presentation at the conference.

Procedures: The procedures for qualifying for grant support are as follows:
1. The funds are for ACSS (current dues paid) members only.
2. Maximum funding per applicant is up to $200 per fiscal year.
   a. The funds are intended for non-promotional purposes only.
3.Vendors are excluded from receiving this grant.
4. Applications will be accepted throughout the school year or until allocated funds are exhausted.
5. A grant proposal is considered more compelling if:
   a. it involves opportunities for the grantee to enhance the name, scope, and mission of the ACSS organization.
   b. it offers the opportunity of establishing increased collegiality between ACSS and other related organizations.

Guidelines:
1. Grant Award funds are for ACSS (current dues paid) members only, with preference given to first-time members.
2. An application for Grant Award funds must be completed and received by ACSS  two months in advance of the date for which it is requested.
3. Maximum funding is set at $1000 total per year available, with a maximum grant of $200 per member.
4. When a member of the Grant Awards Committee or the Executive Council applies for a grant, an evaluation and final approval will be made by the full board.
5. For reimbursement, the conference program and proof of travel (copies of travel and/or hotel receipts or conference registration) must be submitted within 30 days of travel completion. Such conferences include, but are not limited to, National Council for Geographic Education, National Council for the Social Studies, and other regional or national conferences. An agenda or program must include the name of the presenter.
6. Final responsibility for evaluating Grant Award applications rests with the ACSS Grant Awards Committee. The Committee will be composed of a three person membership, served on an annual basis by ACSS Board Members, as appointed by the President. The committee's recommendations will then be subject to board approval.
