Deborah Kennedy PhD is the CEO of The Food Coach AcademyTM, Build Healthy Kids®, and Culinary Rehab®; Director of Culinary Medicine at Rouxbe; Adjunct Professor at the University of New England, and consultant in Food is Medicine. She has published five books in the Culinary Medicine Textbook series with a dozen chefs and over 40 nutrition experts from Canada, Europe and the United States collectively reviewing over 2500 references. An outcome of this work was the development of culinary competencies for nutrition recommendations and various diseases. Dr Kennedy brings her work in nutrition and culinary competencies and a modular learning delivery system, which can be prescriptive, to create programs for various populations. 
Culinary Medicine: Psych, Food & Mood

This 8-week course offers a comprehensive exploration into Nutritional Psychiatry, focusing on the intricate relationship between food and mental health. Participants will develop a deep understanding of foundational nutrient mechanisms that influence mental well-being. They will learn about diets and specific foods known to promote a healthy brain, along with an in-depth examination of how various foods impact mental health, including their effects on depression, anxiety, mood, concentration, and addiction.

Moreover, the course will cover culinary techniques tailored to enhance positive mental health outcomes, providing participants with practical skills to integrate nutritious meals and snacks into their daily lives effectively - as well as help patients struggling with mental health. By the end of the program, students will be equipped with a holistic understanding of food and nutrition strategies for improving mental health, empowering them to make informed dietary choices for themselves and others.
