Merry Christmas 2021 Missionary Jana Inglehart

Merry Christmas to each and every one of you!

This has been another year of incredible blessings from Our Lord. Each of you has been a part of this as you have offered words of encouragement, prayed and generously supported the mission work in various ways. Thank you for being a part of spreading the Gospel in Latin America!

My annual Christmas tradition is creating a Christmas video of our Latin America & Caribbean Region missionaries singing and offering their Christmas greetings. Click the button below to view my 2021 creation.

The following photos and stories are just a tiny sample of the mission work that has gone on recently in Latin America, the work you help make possible:

New Worship Facility in Honduras

In La Paz, Honduras, Alliance Missionary Pastor Junior Martinez from Nicaragua, has been faithfully proclaiming God's Word and the people have responded. What began as a small group in his home is now a congregation in need of a larger worship facility. This new facility should be complete and ready for dedication in February 2022. I may be traveling to Honduras for the big event.

Eight More Baptisms

“We were therefore buried with Him through baptism into death in order that, just as Christ was raised from the dead through the glory of the Father, we too may live a new life.” -Rom. 6:4

In Santo Domingo, Missionary Pastor Lucas Elberhardt from Brazil has been working to bring the Gospel to the local community by offering music lessons, volleyball camps and other youth activities which provide opportunities for sharing God's Word. Additionally, he spends countless hours visiting locals and building bridges into the community.

Recently, eight precious people received new life in Christ through the waters of Holy Baptism at Iglesia Luterana Amigos de Cristo in Santo Domingo. Thanks be to God for His mercy!

My Work Continues

My work of promoting and facilitating the mission work continues. In addition to taking photos, writing stories, and maintaining the Latin America section of the LCMS international website, some of my recent projects have been designing diplomas for each seminary graduate and preparing the 2022 catalog of projects and alliance missionaries for our region. The 2022 catalog has 32 mission support opportunities, which will be available as a downloadable, printable document on the LCMS international website very soon. Additionally I have been working on a mission education curriculum for teens in the LCMS. I'll share more about that in the next newsletter.

Throughout the year, missionaries and other church workers have need of photos, video clips and presentation slides. I continue to maintain a growing photo site with a gallery for each missionary, country, church, and event. The site currently contains over 6300 photos, videos, presentation slides and other resources.

Did you know?

  • The first Peruvian Pastor, Rev. Elvis Carrera, was recently ordained in Los Olivos, Lima, Peru
  • Concordia the Reformer Seminary's class of 2020 just received their diplomas! The original graduation was postponed until 2021 due to the pandemic, and the men were unable to attend the 2021 event in person. Our seminary director hand carried the diplomas to a recent meeting of church leaders across Latin America held in Mexico. Those church leaders delivered the diplomas to each graduate.
  • Opportunities for missionary service are not limited to pastors and teachers. If you have an interest, check into it here

Please Pray

  • For our missionary families as they spend holidays far from their home country
  • For our missionaries and all who serve the Church in their vocations, that their work would bear much fruit.
  • Thanking God for the rapid growth of the missions and congregations across Latin America
  • That God would continue to bless our missionaries with good health
  • Thanking God for faithful supporters like you, that we so appreciate
