Meet our local Honored Hero Faith and her brave story!
My name is Faith Johnson and I am currently a senior at Lambert High School. At the end of the summer, I started experiencing joint pain and intermittent fevers. I was also anemic and very fatigued. So after several visits to my pediatrician and other specialists, I was sent to the Aflac Cancer Center at Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta-Egleston for bloodwork. On November 11, I was diagnosed with B-cell acute lymphoblastic leukemia. I was immediately admitted to the hospital for a week and had surgery to place my port and begin my chemotherapy treatments. The port is how I receive my chemo treatments and I will have it for the next 2-3 years! My treatment will last 2-3 years starting with 9 months of intensive therapy including weekly IV chemo, steroids, medication, and oral chemo. After that I will be in the maintenance phase for the next two years. This has been one of the scariest but eye-opening times of my life and I am so grateful for the support and love from everyone!
The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society’s (LLS) Hero Squad Program is working with thousands of schools across the country to raise funds for blood cancer research and patient support services. Our school has partnered with LLS to take on the mission of ending cancer once and for all.
YOU can help our Squad make a huge impact in the fight against cancer by making a contribution to our fundraising efforts!
Thanks to your support, LLS is able to launch endeavors like The LLS Children's Initiative.
All donations are greatly appreciated and are tax-deductible. Your support empowers LLS to achieve its goal to cure blood cancer and provide support to patients and their families. Visit this webpage often to check our progress, and please feel free to invite friends to donate to our cause.
On behalf of blood cancer patients everywhere, thank you for your support!
