ESPN+ Drops the Puck on the 2019-20 NHL Season October 3; In the Crease Returns Every Morning Following Game Nights

51 Games & Every NHL Team Featured at Least Twice in October

Golden Knights Lead Appearances for the Month on ESPN+ with Seven; Followed by Penguins with Six

The puck drops on the NHL season next week and fans can catch every team throughout the month on ESPN+, the leading direct-to-consumer sports streaming service. The second full season of NHL on ESPN+ begins Oct. 3 as New York Rangers and the second overall pick in the 2019 NHL Draft Kaapo Kakko host the new-look Winnipeg Jets at 7 p.m. ET. Then, the Arizona Coyotes and the newly acquired Phil Kessel take on the Anaheim Ducks at 10 p.m. ESPN+ will feature 51 games during the month, all available to subscribers via the ESPN App.

Every NHL team will be featured at least twice throughout the month. The Vegas Golden Knights and Marc-Andre Fleury will appear seven times – the most of any team during the month – with the Pittsburgh Penguins and Sidney Crosby, appearing six times.

Additional October highlights include:

  • Oct. 5: Kessel makes his home debut with the Coyotes against his first NHL team – the Boston Bruins
  • Oct. 10: New Jersey Devils, with Jack Hughes – the first overall selection in the 2019 NHL Draft – host the Edmonton Oilers and Connor McDavid, the first overall pick in 2015
  • Oct. 10: Chicago Blackhawks host the San Jose Sharks in their home opener
  • Oct. 11: New York Islanders visit the Carolina Hurricanes in a rematch of the second round of the 2019 NHL Playoffs
  • Oct. 17: The 2019 Presidents’ Trophy-winning Tampa Bay Lightning take on the defending Eastern Conference Champion Bruins
  • Oct. 21: Defending Stanley Cup Champion St. Louis Blues host Nathan MacKinnon and the Colorado Avalanche
  • Oct. 22: Toronto Maple Leafs visit the Bruins in a rematch of the first round of last season’s NHL Playoffs
  • Oct. 27: Erik Karlsson and the Sharks visit the Ottawa Senators, Karlsson’s former team
  • Oct. 29: Philadelphia Flyers take on the Penguins in an in-state showdown

In the Crease, the exclusive NHL studio show on ESPN+ hosted by Linda Cohn with analysis from Barry Melrose, returns Oct. 3. The show brings viewers comprehensive analysis and highlights of all NHL games, plus interviews with top players and coaches from across the league and ESPN.com NHL writers including Emily Kaplan, Greg Wyshynski and Chris Peters. SportsCenter anchors John Buccigross and Nabil Karim will also host select episodes. A new episode of In the Crease will air every morning at 10 a.m. following every game night.
