Simulcast of BYU football matchup announced; fall programming unveiled

On-Air Talent Slated for Fall 2013

Former Longhorn running back and Heisman Trophy Winner Ricky Williams will join LHN as an analyst during pre-game, halftime and post-game coverage of the 2013 football season. Williams will join LHN’s Lowell Galindo and Ahmad Brooks during home games for Texas GameDay and Texas GameDay Final Powered by Chevy Silverado live from Darrell K Royal-Texas Memorial Stadium. He will also travel with LHN to Dallas to preview the Texas vs. Oklahoma matchup on Saturday, Oct. 12 and will appear in-studio for analysis and commentary for all away games.

Also joining thelineup this fall is former University of Georgia quarterback David Greene. Playing for the Bulldogs under Head Coach Mark Richt from 2001-2004, Greene led the team to two SEC Eastern Division titles. After helping the Bulldogs win the SEC championship title in 2002, Greene was named the SEC offensive player of the year.

“Ricky joined us for five shows last season. His insight into the game and his passion for Texas Football made him a valuable member of our team. We are thrilled to have him back for every Texas GameDay and Texas GameDay Final,” said Stephanie Druley, vice president of production for LHN.

“David brings a quarterback’s perspective to the show. His knowledge of the game and dedication to film study will make our shows better every Saturday,” said Druley.

Kaylee Hartung and Kevin Dunn will complete the on-air team with reporting and studio show responsibilities.

Calling the New Mexico State vs. Texas game on Saturday, Aug. 31 will be Dave Lamont, and Ray Bentley will serve as analyst. For the Ole Miss vs. Texas matchup on Saturday, Sept. 14, Joe Tessitore will provide play by play, with Matt Millen serving as analyst.

Simulcast of Texas vs. BYU to Air

Longhorn Network will air a special complementary telecast of the Texas vs. BYU matchup on Saturday, Sept. 7 from Provo, Utah. Kickoff is slated for 6 p.m. CT. Director’s Chair: Texas at BYU will feature a mosaic of six camera angles, providing fans with a unique director’s view of the game. The live program will be a Texas-centric supplement to the ESPN2 telecast.

50^th Anniversary Programming Debuts

Longhorn Network will commemorate the 50^th anniversary of Texas’ first national championship with a retrospective documentary titled 1963. Airing on Friday, Aug. 30 at 8 p.m., the hour-long program celebrates the 50^th anniversary of The University of Texas’ first national championship. The show features interviews with 15 former players including Longhorn Legend Tommy Nobis and 1963 Team MVP Duke Carlisle as they relive the games, plays and moments that made 1963 a definitive year for Texas football.  LHN will cover live all pre-game 50^th anniversary festivities taking place prior to the New Mexico State game on Saturday, Aug. 31. 

LHN Weekly Football Programming (all times Central)

·         Mack Brown Press Conference (Mondays, 11 a.m.) – Coach Brown’s weekly press conference will air live on LHN beginning August 26.

·         Rewind with Mack Brown(Mondays, 7 p.m.) – Beginning September 2, Coach Brown joins Lowell Galindo in studio to break down the previous weekend’s game.

·         Texas Football Overdrive (Tuesdays, 9 p.m.) – Full game condensed to an hour and enhanced with player interviews and press conference sound. Beginning September 3.

·         Longhorn Weekly with Mack Brown (Wednesdays, 7 p.m.)– Mack Brown, Craig Way and weekly guests discuss Texas football. Beginning August 28.

·         Texas Football All Access (Wednesdays, 8 p.m.) – Takes fans behind the scenes with unprecedented access to the Longhorn football team. Beginning August 28.

·         Austin Longhorn Club Events  (Thursdays prior to home games, noon – Members of the Texas football coaching staff address fans and take questions in front of a live audience. Beginning August 29.

·         Game Plan with Mack Brown (Thursdays, 7 p.m.) – Returning August 29, Coach Brown talks strategy as he breaks down Texas’ next matchup.

·         Longhorn Extra (Mondays, Thursdays and Fridays, 10 p.m.) – Longhorn Network’s nightly home for news, highlights and analysis of all University of Texas sports. New this year, the Monday edition will expand one hour for a more in-depth look at the football team. Kevin Dunn and a team of analysts and insiders will offer fresh perspectives on the Horns’ latest game. Kaylee Hartung will cover the Monday news conference and provide reports from the team facility. Defensive coordinator Manny Diaz will be a weekly guest on the show.  A new weekly research-driven feature, S.T.A.T. (Statistical Truths About Texas), will debut.

·         Longhorn Extra: Practice Exclusive (Tuesdays and Wednesdays, 10 p.m.)– Longhorn Extra takes fans inside Texas football practice and delivers the Longhorn news of the day.
