Leading a classroom, you’ll help your students realize their potential as you discover your own. Whether part of our teaching corps or tutoring fellowship, you’ll work with kids—and see a brighter world through the eyes of possibility.

As you fuel your students’ brilliance, you’ll encourage your students’ potential as you learn something about your own. You’ll gain the context, clarity, and conviction to lead a lifetime of impact from any sector or field you choose.

As a TFA corps member, you’ll teach for two years in an underserved classroom, working alongside students, as well as teachers, parents, community members, and TFA alumni to co-create the conditions in which all of us have the opportunity to learn, lead, and thrive. You can select the region you want to apply to most, with the option to select one or two alternatives that interest you.

TFA has over 40 regions to which you can apply to teach, ranging from large cities to rural communities. You can let us know the region you’d like to apply to, along with up to two alternates. Whether you’d like to apply to a place you know well or somewhere new to you, you can make a profound impact alongside those in your community.

As a corps member, you will be employed as a teacher by a school district and receive the same salary, vacation, and health benefits as other beginning teachers. To help offset transition and summer training costs, all 2024 corps members also receive transitional financial support stipends and access to need-based transitional grants and no-interest loans to help you make it to your first paycheck. Additional benefits, such as AmeriCorps benefits (including federal loan forbearance, interest accrual payments, and education awards) may be available to you.

Our corps members come from all academic majors and career backgrounds. So much of their strength comes from their differences, but they all have a few distinct leadership qualities in common:

In order to be considered for admission to the Teach For America corps, you must have:

• Bachelor’s degree by June 2024 with a 2.5 minimum undergraduate GPA
• Open to U.S. citizens, lawful permanent residents, and eligible EAD holders

Lead others to pursue a bold vision for change beyond the status quo and can create meaningful change

Work effectively in collaboration with others of diverse perspectives and backgrounds

Submit Your Application

The online application form asks about your background and leadership experience. Plan to upload your resume and write two short response reflections about a meaningful accomplishment and your interest in joining TFA as a corps member. Your responses help us gain a deeper understanding of your skills, strengths, and experiences.

You’ll also tell us what region you’d like to teach in, with the option to select one or two alternate regions you’re excited about.

Attend an Interview

The interview occurs virtually and consists of a sample lesson, case activity, and a personal one-on-one interview.

Refine Your Selections

After your interview, you’ll finalize your regional selection(s) and preference the subjects you qualify to teach.

Accept Your Offer

If accepted, you’ll receive an offer from one of the regions on your list. You have approximately 7 days after the offer to confirm that you’ll join us.
