and

Long Term Independent Study  (LT-ISA)

PEOPLE INVOLVED IN SHORT TERM ISA PROCESS: Site ISA Coordinator, Attendance Clerk, Parent and Student, and Classroom Teachers.

IMPORTANT INFORMATION:

  • ISA (Independent Study ) is available for any student who will be out 3 or more consecutive days.
  • If a student goes out of the country, the Canvas platform does not work outside of the country, so hardcopy resources will be provided.
  • It is highly recommended that the parent request an ISA 2 weeks in advance, so teachers can plan lessons and communicate with the Independent Study Coordinator.
  • If a student is on a 504 or IEP plan, there will need to be an IEP/504 amendment done before the ISA contract can begin. The parent will need to reach out to Marisa Bowers at marisa.bowers@leusd.k12.ca.us
  •  The Attendance Clerk will then collect and organize any of the work that is to be given to the student.
  • If a student stays in the U.S., they can complete their work on Canvas, unless instructed otherwise by their teacher(s).

STEP BY STEP:

  • Parent notify Attendance Clerk, Mrs. Debbie Briggs, to request Independent Study for students. Debbie.briggs@leusd.k12.ca.us or 951-951-253-7350.
  • The Attendance Clerk will contact the parent when it is ready to be signed.
  •  The parent will sign the contract before the student leaves on ISA.
