School Districts Serving Meals During COVID-19 School ClosuresFood Research and Action Center
This summary captures different models school districts and program providers are operating to ensure students have access to nutritious meals during school closures due to COVID-19. FRAC encourages school districts and program operators to develop a comprehensive plan for continued nutrition services in the event of school closures. Effective plans should maintain safety and social distancing. Plans should ensure that all students and their parents are able to easily access student meals through pick up sites throughout the community (grab and go and drive thru) where students and/or their parents can pick up multiple meals at a time. For those students with transportation barriers, school districts and community partners should consider utilizing bus routes and potentially home delivery, in addition to meal pick-up sites throughout district. **Indicates best practice** Questions? Please contact Etienne Melcher Philbin, emelcher@frac.org.
