NASA Student Airborne Research ProgramThe purpose of the Student Airborne Research Program is to provide students with hands-on research experience in all aspects of a major scientific campaign, from detailed planning on how to achieve mission objectives to formal presentation of results and conclusions to peers and others. Virtual Student Federal Service internshipsSince 2009, more than 10,000 U.S. citizen college students have advanced the work of the federal government through Virtual Student Federal Service (VSFS) internships.

VSFS is a nine-month remote internship open to U.S. citizens who are high school graduates enrolled in higher education at the time of their application and participation. Participants can be half-time or full-time undergraduate, graduate or postgraduate students. Because the program is virtual, students can complete the internship from anywhere.

The time commitment is about 10 hours per week during the school year. There are opportunities for all, from political analysis to speechwriting. Internships are unpaid but may be eligible for course credit. Unpaid.
