The purpose of Noyce U-R STEM is described in detail on the website*. (It's extremely important to read before completing an application. If you are selected for an interview, we will ask you about this.)
The goal of Noyce is to improve the number and preparation of secondary math and science teachers. U-R STEM scholarships cover the cost of attendance at MSU Denver-- up to $14,000 each semester for a maximum of four semesters of full-time enrollment. Once a U-R STEM Scholar is in the program, they will continue to receive scholarship funds each semester as long as they fulfill the requirements of the scholarship, AND maintain good academic progress (minimum 2.75 GPA in the content area, which you will also need to apply for student teaching). U-R STEM Fellowships are designed to be pathways to the scholarship.

As a requirement for receiving funds, all Noyce U-R STEM Scholars agree to teach in a qualifying district once they get licensure. Most districts currently meet these criteria. (Scholars are not restricted to teaching in the urban Denver area or the state of Colorado.) Professional commitment is fulfilled by teaching one year for each semester of scholarship funds received. For example, if a student receives the scholarship for four semesters, they will have to teach in a qualifying district for four years.
