US Drone Soccer Program Volunteer Form

Virginia Tech Innovation Campus will be hosting a Drone Soccer Program for middle school students in partnership with Boeing and US Drone Soccer. I am reaching out to you to invite you to be a volunteer at our upcoming Drone Soccer events. We are excited to have you join us and contribute to the success of this exciting and innovative event.

The Drone Soccer event aims to bring together drone enthusiasts, sports enthusiasts, and technology enthusiasts for a thrilling competition. This event will showcase the skills and agility of remotely operated drones in a soccer-like game. As a volunteer, your assistance will be invaluable in ensuring the smooth running of the event and providing a memorable experience for all participants. Judges: Two Judges evaluate student teams through interviews, Competition Logbooks, and on-field performance.

Head Referee: One Head Referee monitors the competition throughout the event to ensure rules and procedures are followed by all teams.

Scorekeeper Referee: Two Scorekeeper Referees record scores using the TM Mobile app or paper score sheets. They verify recorded scores with the Head Referee and the student drive team after each match. They also discuss possible rule violations with the Head Referee and ensure that fields are properly reset and robots are ready for the next match. 1 scorekeeper referee is needed per Competition Field (Teamwork and Skills).

Battery Crew: Two volunteers monitor the battery station making sure the batteries are being charged at the station only.

Field Reset Crew: Two Field Reset volunteers accurately reset the competition field after each match. It is a role suitable for individuals with high energy and younger children. 1-2 Field Reset volunteers are needed per Teamwork Field.

Set Up Crew: Six Volunteers set up equipment below the event starts

Break Down Crew: Six Volunteers break down equipment after the event.

Team Check-in: Two Team Check-in volunteer welcome teams as they arrive, verify team information, hand out materials, collect Competition Logbooks, and direct attendees to the appropriate location

Queuing: Queuing volunteers assist with staging teams for upcoming matches and maintaining the match schedule. 1 Queuing volunteer is needed per Teamwork Field.

Pit Admin: They serve in a customer service role, answering schedule and venue questions. 1 Pit Admin is needed.

Volunteer Check-in: Two Volunteer Check-in volunteers welcome volunteers and guests, verify schedules, hand out materials, and direct volunteers to the appropriate location.
