National Honor Society Novice Program Application
NATIONAL HONOR SOCIETY NOVICE PROGRAM
APPLICATION
Purpose:
Novice members will have the opportunity to receive insight on high
school leadership and what it takes to become involved in
extracurricular activities early on during their high school experience.
They will be involved in NHS activities without being a national
member, which they can apply for during the spring semester of
sophomore year (national rule). By the spring semester of their
sophomore year, they will have met all the requirement to become a
national member.
Requirements:
• Novice members must maintain a 3.0 unweighted GPA in order
to remain in the program.
• Novice members must come to at least 70% of the after-school
meeting.
• Novice members must participate in at least 2 events each
semester.
• A member may be dismissed from the National Honor Society for
documented instances of violation of the character standards of
NHS.
Failure to comply to these rules will be removed from the program and
NOT be able to join NHS until their junior year.
