A vision statement is statement of the ideal future the organization wants to aspire to, reach for, and be pulled towards by. It should be inspiring, exciting, and often is used as an organization’s tagline for branding purposes.
A mission is different from a vision in that the former is the cause and the latter is the effect” (
businessdictionary.com, 2013). A mission statement is what you and the organization are trying to achieve and accomplish every day. It should be a rallying cry; something that would inspire you and “make it all worthwhile”; your mission is the current, here-and-now, stepping stones you must take to achieve your organization’s vision. It should be inspiring, exciting, and short enough to reasonably remember.
