WCPS Blueprint for Maryland's Future: Early Childhood and College and Career-Readiness Committees
Maryland State Department of Education (MSDE) and the Accountability and Implementation Board (AIB) have recently provided local school systems with additional information about Blueprint for Maryland’s Future.  To begin the work of successful implementation of The Blueprint, WCPS is forming two committees: Early Childhood Education and Career and College Readiness.  We plan to involve for parents, staff, and community stakeholders.

Committee Information
The Early Childhood Education Committee will work on building community capacity for 3-year-old pre-kindergarten with a focus on improving kindergarten readiness in literacy and mathematics. They will focus on learning opportunities for WCPS staff, parents and guardians, and community daycare providers. The committee will also explore opportunities for paraprofessionals to earn their Child Development Associate (CDA).

There will be four College and Career Readiness (CCR) Committees:

The CCR Pathways committee (grades 9-12) will review Dual Credit, Advanced Placement (AP) and International Baccalaureate (IB), and Career Technology Education (CTE) pathways.  

The CCR Supplemental Instruction Committee (grades K-12) will review the required supplemental instruction pathways for students who are not college and career-ready in math and/or literacy.

The CCR District Courses Committee (grades 9-12) will explore options for the expansion and delivery of instruction in a synchronous manner at the high school level.

The CCR High School Grading Policy Committee (grades 9-12) will review WCBOE Policy IKA, which includes grading, GPA & class rank.
