ENCORE CLASSES

Art

  • Williams-  Students are working on a clay teapot inspired by research done in class viewing images,  and creating a presentation about the history of teapots, and their shapes and styles from ancient and modern times.  They also are allowed to make another type of functional clay pot if they create an idea and discuss it with me.  They have reviewed steps for slab and coil construction and chosen which one to use.  This will be displayed in their digital portfolio right before Spring Break on the Q3 Summative #3 slide.  Q3 Experimental Studio Days will be the week before Spring Break.  All portfolio items must be updated to participate- updates will be done in class.
  • Welti- Students are working on an oil pastel drawing of a person or animal of their choice. This is a continuation from their grid transfer pencil drawing where they chose a significant figure that they look up to to draw a portrait of in pencil. They had the choice to recreate this portrait on a large scale with oil pastels or switch it up and choose a different subject. We are also continuing our four sketchbook drawings where students will practice their drawing skills. These projects will be done and ready to bring home by the end of Q3.

Spectrum

7th Grade Spectrum students completed their ASL final presentations.  It was so “intellectually stimulating” to watch their performances and see how they each put their own take on the assignment of translating a piece to ASL.  They should be proud of their accomplishments:)  You can see their final projects in Schoology.

We are starting our final unit of the year, Parkreation:  Designing a Community Park (a relevant spring project:)  Students will work in small groups to research, plan, and design a community park that will meet the needs of babies/toddlers, children, tweens/teens, and adults/seniors.  They will incorporate elements for inclusion, safety and a “green environment”.

Please remind your students to check Schoology updates for information regarding due dates, project updates, and feedback.
