CORE CLASSES |
Language Arts | - Students have been working on characterization, conflict, cause and effect, and point of view. Â Next quarter we will begin working on figurative language.
- Students are finishing up their final vocabulary unit on word parts within the next week. Â Before the end of the quarter students will be taking a cumulative word parts quiz from the entire quarter.
- Students have been working on their major summatives on characterization through a playlist using images, hashtags, and a digital instagram template.
- In writing our focus has been on basic writing structure, capitalization, and punctuation. Â Students have been working on writing a short story in a genre of their choice. Â
- Students have begun their independent reading choices and/or book clubs in class.

Math | Geometry - Fundamentals of geometry. Points, lines, and planes. Complementary and Supplementary angles, linear pair, logical statements.
- Next lesson is on parallel lines and angles made by a transversal. Study material for the summative is reviewed in class as well as posted on Schoology.
- Some students are not reviewing at home and they also forget to bring supplies and math notebook class. Please encourage students to come prepared for class.
| Pre-Algebra - Students took their summative on Unit 2 this week.
- Unit 3: Evaluating Algebraic Expressions and Simple Interest will begin on 10/3(A Day) or 10/4(B Day)
- Study Guide for Unit 3 is due in class on Monday 10/17(A Day) or Tuesday, 10/18(B Day)
- Summative will take place on Wednesday, 10/19(A Day) or Thursday, 10/20 (B Day)
- We are currently halfway through the quarter, please be sure your student is continuing with strong study habits and reviewing their notes and activities each night.
- Please encourage your student to check the Assignment sheet and calendar in Schoology frequently.

Spiral Review #1 on 10/7 on Linear Functions
Many Students are not completing homework and forgetting to bring supplies to class. Please encourage students to be prepared for class. | Reeve, Petsch, Shirk Algebra I - Students have completed lessons on Evaluating Expressions, Solving Multi-Step Equations, and Solving Equations with Variables on Both Sides.
- Next lesson is on solving Literal Equations.

- Our Unit 1 Summative is scheduled for September 22 (A Day)and September 23 (B Day)

Science | - Students have recently finished crushing their Sci. Reasoning and Measurements Summative. Please take a moment to view your student’s grade on ParentVue.
- Our next summative, Atomic Theory and Matter, will occur on 10/3 (A) and 10/4 (B) for Honors classes and 10/6 (A) and 10/7 (B) for grade level classes. As a reminder, your student has access to study materials in Schoology.

Social Sciences | - In Civics, we just finished up our 1st unit of study on the Foundations of American Govt
- This week we began our exploration of Federalism - our 2nd unit.
- Next week we’ll have our 1st Major Summative of the 2nd unit, and the week after that will be our last Major Summative of the 1st Quarter
