Creating a NCSUITS Account if You Have an ID Number

Employers or Agents who have a username and password from the legacy system do not need to create an online account. You will use your existing credentials to access NCSUITS.

You need to create an NCSUITS account if you already have an Employer or Agent ID Number from DES but do not have a username and password for NCSUITS.

  1. Click on Create an Online Account.
  2. Select ‘I am a Business/Agent/Third-Party user, requiring DES claim/tax services for businesses’
  3. Click the checkbox beside ‘I’m not a robot’ and click ‘Next’.
  4. Enter your seven-digit Employer or six-digit Agent ID Number (ID Number) two times. ID numbers in NCSUITS will have three-to-four leading zeros but are not required to be entered at this time.
  5. Enter the six-digit PIN for your Employer/Agent ID Number.
  6. Create your Sign In username and password.
  7. Enter a valid email address.
  8. Check your email for instructions on how to activate your NCSUITS account.

Click on the link in the email; use the username and password you created in Step 5 to sign into your NCSUITS account.

Employer or Agent ID Number (ID Number)

The Employer Account Number, or EAN, is named something different in the North Carolina State Unemployment Insurance Tax System or NCSUITS. In NCSUITS, it is called the Employer or Agent ID Number. The number is the same as the one employers and agents used in the legacy system – except there are now three-to-four leading zeros.

You can apply for an ID Number online. After you apply, you will receive two pieces of mail: one with your 10-digit ID Number, and another with your six-digit PIN. This may take four-to-six weeks.

Once you have you ID Number and PIN, you will use them create an NCSUITS account to manage your unemployment tax information and respond to unemployment claims.

Resetting Your ID Number PIN

If you need to reset your PIN, please contact the Employer Call Center at: 866-278-3822.

Resetting ID Number Password

Sign-in by entering your username and selecting ‘I forgot my password/reset password.’ If you do not remember your username, select ‘I forgot my username.’ An email will be sent to the email of record.
