There is good news to report about a 9-year-old boy who developed MIS-C, or multi-system inflammatory syndrome, a rare but serious condition linked to COVID-19. His mother tells us Luca Greco is now fully recovered.

"(We) just really have a peace of mind that he can resume normal activities." - Ashley Greco, Luca's mother

Luca spent four days in the hospital back in January. Doctors were concerned about the disease's impact on his heart. His mother Ashley says Luca had another EKG and Echocardiogram on Thursday, and doctors say he has now fully recovered. She says Luca can now resume the sports and activities he loves like hockey, baseball and riding his bike.

"(We) just really have a peace of mind that he can resume normal activities," Ashley Greco said. "We felt that Luca was given exceptional care at Golisano and through Dr. Smith and the infectious disease team who were really cautious about the different medicines that he was on and how long he needed to rest his heart because of medicines and because of the disease and because there's so much unknown."

Ashley says she plans to keep an eye on him as he resumes activities. She says she is grateful to the team at Upstate Golisano Children's Hospital for taking such good care of him. She is encouraging you to get to a Red Cross blood drive to donate plasma, something she says helped Luca during his time in the hospital.
