• Reasonable accommodations are: modifications to rules, policies, or practices; environmental adjustments such as removal of architectural, communication or transportation barriers; or auxiliary aids and services.
• Essential eligibility requirements means the legitimate educational, work and/or professional experience or other requirements for employment with BSU or participation in BSU’s programs, services or activities that an individual must be able to meet with or without accommodation.

Meeting with the Office of Equal Opportunity is considered protected activity. Accordingly, the University prohibits retaliation against anyone who makes a reasonable accommodation request under the Equal Opportunity, Diversity and Affirmative Action Plan, who assists another in making a request, or who receives an approved reasonable accommodation. All persons should feel free to request a reasonable accommodation without fear of retribution or reprisal. If you believe you are being retaliated against for requesting a reasonable accommodation with the Office of Equal Opportunity, please inform us immediately. Any allegations of retaliation against someone engaged in protected activity with the Office of Equal Opportunity will be investigated.

By considering this request, BSU will not consider or regard the requestor as having a disability as defined by the ADA or any other applicable federal or state law.

Requests for reasonable accommodation may also be made orally. Please contact the Office of Equal Opportunity to make a request or to discuss any questions about the reasonable accommodation process at BSU.
