An inspiring, engaging, mentored research experience for Rocky Mountain Region high school and community college STEM teachers in bioengineering, bioimaging, and health informatics

The Rocky Mountain Summer Research Education Experience is a paid professional development opportunity for creative and curious high school and community college teachers looking to expand their skills as a STEM teacher.

The RMSREE is committed to training a diverse group of teachers through in person, mentored, laboratory research experiences. Diversity is central to CU Denver achieving its mission to be a "diverse teaching and learning community that creates, discovers, and applies knowledge to improve the health and well-being of Colorado and the world."

The RMSREE program is centered around an 8 week (summer) research experience in order to:

  • allow participants to experience the authentic fulfillment of scientific discovery
  • increase their STEM proficiency and confidence
  • translate their experience into enhanced STEM education in their own classrooms
  • enhance the STEM pipeline for students through a stronger connection between CU Denver and area high schools and community colleges

The yearly application window opens in September for the following summer.

NEW for the Summer 2024 cohort: we will be able to offer some support towards on-campus housing for our participants!

Applications for Summer 2024 RMSREE are now being accepted!

For full consideration, please complete your application by December 8, 2023.  Window extended an additional week!

We are looking forward to working with our next cohort of STEM teachers!
