With the growing cultural and economic importance of Asia, this real-world experience will allow you to immerse yourself in the Chinese language and culture, apply in-class-lessons to real-life situations, interact with local and international students and expand your career horizons.

  • Do I need to be vaccinated to go to Taiwan?

​

  • Do I need to a Visa to go to Taiwan?

    • If you are a US citizen, it is NOT required for a stay < 90 days (Check Department of State). Your passport should be valid throughout the duration of stay.  â€‹

​

  • How much scholarship is available?

    • The education abroad office offer scholarships based on a formula subjected to applicant's GPA, duration of program, financial needs, etc. In​ 2022, the scholarship ranged from $750 to $3,500, with a mean around $1,000 to 1,200. APPLY early to be considered!!

​

  • Will the study abroad program be safe?

    • ​Student safety is of utmost concern in the study abroad program, I will keep monitoring the latest development and consult the Education Abroad office - the program will only continue if travel advisory is safe to do so. We will avoid any foreseeable risky areas. Most sites in the planned itinerary (e.g. GeoPark, wetlands, museums) are located in rural and/or safe areas where protests are unlikely. I am confident to lead the study abroad program safely in compliance with the travel advisory issued by the Department of State.

  • How much is it to get around Taiwan?​

    • See here for further details:

      • Food: Usually < $5 USD for normal meal

      • Transportation: ~ < $1 for one-way public transportation. Monthly pass  is available.

    • In general, $1 USD = ~30 NTW. See here for the current rate.

  • I will be graduating in May (or I am not a TxState student). Can I join?

    • ​Yes, you can register the study abroad program as a non-degree seeking student. As long as you are taking 6 hrs or more this summer, you will be eligible for the IEF Scholarship which the Education Abroad Office oversees.

​

  • When should I register for this study abroad?

    • ​If you are interested in the study abroad program, you should register NOW! This way you will be guaranteed a seat and also apply to financial aid and/or scholarships while it is still available. Please observe the cancellation policies of Summer Programs from Education Abroad Office.
