Colorado College Selects Contractor for Robson Arena

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. — Nunn Construction has been selected as the general contractor and construction manager for Colorado College's Edward J. Robson Arena, a new multi-purpose, state-of-the-art, sustainable sporting event venue that will benefit both the college and the City of Colorado Springs.

Thanks to the generosity of many donors, including former CC hockey player and alumnus Ed Robson '54, for the first time in its 80-year history Colorado College Tiger Hockey will have an arena on campus to call home and play its games.

The arena is one of four planned, unique City for Champions (C4C) venues designed to strengthen and improve economic impact of Pikes Peak region visitor attractions.

Selecting a building partner marks a significant step forward, following years of planning and community input by a multi-disciplinary team of architects, planners, civil and traffic engineers, and public engagement facilitators, who incorporated feedback from a robust public process.

Chris Coulter, Colorado College associate vice president of facilities, said CC's partnership with Nunn Construction creates a singularly focused team dedicated to delivering on a long-time college dream — establishing the on-campus Robson Arena.

"Projects like these become memorable because of their impact, their lasting influence, and the required commitment of all those involved. We look forward to making Robson memorable for all of the right reasons," said Coulter.

Nunn Construction, an expert in high-impact community projects, is dedicated to creating a sense of place that allows CC hockey and athletics to compete at the national level, but also serves the needs of the broader Colorado College and Colorado Springs communities.

"Growing up in Colorado Springs as a fan of Tiger Hockey, this project has personal significance. I'm thrilled to bring the fan experience onto campus, as a part of our revitalized downtown. At Nunn, we are proud to bring an agile and responsive team of experts with passion and dedication to a successful Robson Arena project," said Tyson Nunn, president of Nunn Construction.

JLG Architects is designing the arena with local planning firm N.E.S., Inc; pending approval by the City of Colorado Springs, the project will break ground in early 2020, and is projected to open in 2021.
