A woman made an unusual request during a Planning & Zoning Board meeting in Boca Raton on Thursday night.

It happened after a presentation related to a motion to approve an ordinance to amend city code for the bulk storage of flammable liquids.

The board chairman asked the audience if anyone had any questions.

The woman stood up, raised her hand and walked to the microphone. An elderly man with a cane walked behind her to the podium.

Once there, she identified herself as Ashley Cream.

The woman gave some numbers about how she believes Florida had the largest per capita population of "Sugar Daddies" in the US, with Miami, Palm Beach, and Boca with the highest concentration of "these aged benefactors."

The woman said they're helpful to the economy.

"Sugar Daddies, both gay and straight, and yes, even Sugar Mommies, are responsible for college educations, cars, homes, rents, jets...and the occasional body enhancement."

The woman asked the board to decree a "Sugar Daddy and Mommy Appreciation Day" on March 10.

"That's a city council issue," responded Planning & Zoning Board chair, Arnold Sevell.

The woman and her elderly guest left the podium. She later wheeled him out of the chambers in a wheelchair.

It's not the first time a "Sugar Daddy" has come up in an official proceeding. Last year, a potential juror used it as an excuse to get out of jury duty in the trial of Nikolas Cruz, the man ultimately sentenced to life in prison for the Parkland shootings.
