DC and District Internships

Glen Ellyn Office
District office interns are provided the opportunity to assist the office in helping constituents navigate federal agencies ranging from topics like immigration, Medicare, and veterans’ affairs. District office interns are able to attend virtual webinars held by different government agencies and work with staff on various district-based projects and events. They are also asked to assist with office work including working on projects, doing research, answering phones, and drafting letters.
Our office offers internship positions in constituent relations. Interns which will be in-person will be assisting with the frontline operations, helping staff, and getting hands-on experience with casework and outreach. Interns will as well be able to conduct research for our outreach and casework teams (ex: list building, community news tracking, data cleaning, local issue background research, and event brainstorming).
Washington, D.C. Office
Our Washington, D.C. Office is accepting applications for the Summer 2024 Internship Program. Summer interns will assist with the day-to-day workings and operations of the office, including, but not limited to:

Answering constituent phone calls

Attending committee hearings and briefings

Working with legislative and communications staff on projects

Assisting in the coordination of White House and U.S. Capitol tours

Drafting and responding to constituent correspondence

Assisting with the Mail Program
Interns will gain insight into the legislative process, network with staff, and learn about the inner workings and responsibilities of a congressional office.
Congressman Casten's internship program is seeking qualified undergraduate or graduate students, or recent college graduates to apply for either a part-time or full-time position. Interns will receive a monthly stipend.
The D.C. Office operates Monday through Friday 9:00 am to 6:00 PM Eastern Time, and the Summer internship will run from May to early August 2024.
