Reflection
As a huge fan of The Daily Show, my work was inspired by the Malaysian comedian Ronnie Chieng. As a former student at Eastern Middle School’s Humanities program and a current student at Montgomery Blair High School’s STEM program, I hope to use the skills and knowledge that I have acquired at school to one day become a professional documentary filmmaker focusing on social justice issues (which includes environmental issues, since certain people and countries are disproportionately affected by climate change) using a data-driven approach. Given the short attention span of members of my generation, I believe that documentary shorts are the best way to reach them. In researching my documentary short, I looked up the most common myths about climate change and the most common arguments used by climate deniers. I hope that my viewers understand how silly these myths and arguments sound given the empirical evidence for and the predicted consequences of climate change.
