Comprehensive Transition and Post-Secondary Program (CTP)

What is CTP?

The Comprehensive Transition and Post-Secondary Program (CTP) gives students with Intellectual Disabilities (ID) the ability to take part in traditional college courses and student life. Students will have access to peer mentors and classroom accommodations to allow them to complete course work to the best of their abilities.

The program is intended to encourage independent living skills and self-advocacy, as well as providing a certificate that will assist them in the career field of their choice.

Components of the CTP Certificate

  • An individually determined program of study for each student
  • Peer and natural supports
  • Involvement in both extracurricular activity on and off campus
  • Academic coaches and campus mentors who can assist with financial aid and career readiness
  • Assistance with applying for financial aid and scholarships
  • A work exploration opportunity such as an internship or volunteer credits
  • An accredited certificate upon completion

Requirements for Certificate

Students are required to take a minimum of 24 credit hours of either for credit or audited course work. The certificate plan will follow a traditional semester term which includes 16 weeks of instructional time. The traditional completion time for the certificate is 2 years.

Students will also need to complete a minimum of 3 supervised internships related to career goal. These can be paid or unpaid. (Students will receive assistance in finding opportunities.)
