Nothing Left to Lose: (Parts 1 and 2 combined into a novel of epic proportion) (Guarded Hearts) Kindle Edition
Three years after the tragic events of Anna's sixteenth birthday which saw her boyfriend killed and her kidnapped by his sadistic murderer, she's no longer the happy-go-lucky girl that everyone used to know and love; she's now cold, hard and suffers from night terrors.
Carter is currently serving time for the murder of Jack - a conviction that Anna helped secure - but his retrial is coming up because some key evidence appears to have been tampered with.
Needing to ensure his daughter's safety, presidential candidate, Senator Spencer, tasks in Ashton Taylor, a newly qualified SWAT agent, to guard the broken girl and keep her safe until the end of the trial.
For three years Anna has refused to feel emotion or pain. Can Ashton help her rebuild her life and finally deal with the grief of losing her childhood sweetheart? Will he be the one to make her see that life is, in fact, worth living and that not all men will hurt her?
This original edition combines part 1 (Guarding the Broken) and part 2 (Blurring the lines) into one novel of epic proportions!

About the author

I am a traditionally published and Indie author that hails from sunny England (I lie, it's not really that sunny here!) I'm a hopeless romantic, so of course my main writing focus is romance. I love to create swoon-worthy males that steal your breath! I write mature YA, new adult and contemporary romance novels.
As well as being a writer I'm also an avid reader, mum to one little boy, proud chocoholic and an absolute beast at Lego PlayStation games.
If I had to sum myself up in one word, it would probably be 'daydreamer' - but unlike most of my school teachers, I don't necessarily view that as a bad thing. After all, I read somewhere once that books are like waking dreams...

As one of the best written progression of a romantic relationship I have read for a while, this took me on an emotional, exciting and suspenseful journey - I highly recommend it.
I'd recommend this read, when it is feeling slow hang in there. It is totally worth it. And have some tissues handy.

Sex is important but not overdone and the plot has enough twists to make it hard to put down most of the time.
Good for those who want something light and racy with likeable characters and a bit more than just romance.
Yes, it did seem to go on a bit in places, a bit drawn out and i found myself yawning and becoming a bit disinterested.
At times, i was also getting frustrated with Anna.....i can understand the premise behind her behaviour (her traumatic past history) but i also found it difficult to believe she'd be so stupid / blind / pathetic during some parts of the book.
It's also a bit thin in other places too, the realism of the story, but i just had to take a step back from time to time and say to myself, "this is fiction"....just like i do about movies, when things seem a little far-fetched.
On the upside, it had some lovely elements of romance and HEA....i also liked the comedic moments and the parts of the book where they were in LA with Ashton's friends were some of fave bits....they were fun characters and i could relate to the banter among the guys. When Anna DID start to let go of her past, there were some heart-pleasing moments (i literally said out loud "FINALLY!" a few times).
All in all, i've rated it as average.....it's neither the best or the worst i have read, but it was ok to pass the time.

What happened to the Heroine is sad, tragic and scary. She has since cut herself off from any human affection and love. She struggles everyday to survive emotionally from her past. Enter our Hero. Hero is what one could consider the Perfect Man. Oh he makes mistakes, but his nature and emotions make up for it. This story takes us down a rocky road, through tragedy and sadness, hope and forgiveness to acceptance and love, all with suspense that will keep you riveted. I was immersed into the characters world and felt all their emotions, their highs, their lows. With a great secondary cast of characters, this book had it all. The writing flowed like silk and nothing seemed over the top, even considering the unlikely circumstances. Ms. Moseley is a fantastic author, she certainly holds a spot in my top authors to "One-Click"
You will not regret purchasing this novel.

Anna was sixteen years old when she witnessed her boyfriend being murdered by Carter, a drug and gun dealer who then kidnapped her for approximately ten months. He is raided and arrested and Anna is found. She is now nineteen years old and in college. She doesn't speak much and hates to be touched. The whole experience left her terribly damaged. Her dad is an important senator who is running for President. Unbeknownst to Anna, Carter has been sending her letters from jail every week for the last three years and now her parents are getting death threats as well, and Carter's case is coming up for appeal.
Ashton has just graduated at the top of his class in the SWAT program and has been hand picked by Anna's dad to serve as her pretend live-in boyfriend/bodyguard and protect her. She doesn't like having a bodyguard and has gone through over twenty in the last three years. Ashton is the first bodyguard to also act as a boyfriend and her dad hopes it will help keep other guys away from her. The minute Anna and Ashton meet they are attracted to each other. She tries to blow him off like all the others, assuming he will leave her, but Ashton has been promised his pick of jobs after the eight month period he is supposed to protect her, so he is determined to stay and make it work. He suggests that they talk and hold hands to get to know each other so playing boyfriend and girlfriend will be more believable when she goes back to college. For some reason, Anna discovers that when Ashton touches her she actually feels safe. When she has nightmares, just him being in the room with her seems to settle her and help her sleep. Ashton realizes immediately he will do whatever to make her and keep her safe. Because she dad insists she not be told about the letters or threats, he'll have to be careful in making sure she doesn't leave or go anywhere without him or her other guards. Anna and Ashton soon form a comfortable friendship and you find yourself pulling for them to find happiness. They touch and kiss and are very convincing as a couple. The problem is, Anna feels responsible for her ex, Jack's murder since it was on her birthday and she was why they were at the bar at the first place. She feels guilty feeling anything for Ashton because she thinks she is cheating on Jack's memory. Anna will break your her heart with her nightmares which relive some of the horrors she went through with Carter.
Ashton is just WOW!!! He is one of the best book boyfriends out there. Tall, dark, sexy, protective, considerate, loves to cuddle and he's a HOT SWAT team member. He has no faults whatsoever. Ashton helps break through some of the barriers that Anna has created and slowly she starts to live again with his encouragement and assistance. Ashton becomes aware of his feelings for Anna pretty soon and hopes he can make her feel the same way before its time for him to leave. I won't give you anymore details (remember it's over 500 pages so I haven't given away any spoilers) but this book is so worth the read.
Ashton and Anna are so sweet together. I will say that Carter will of course make another appearance and it will have you reading every page on the edge of your seat. I cried, laughed, smiled and just felt both sorrow and happiness in this book. The epilogue is absolutely beautiful. You do get your happy ending and its one of the best I've read. Such a wonderful book. Oh and in March we get a companion novel about Nate, Ashton's best friend who was second in the SWAT class behind Ashton. He's a player and you'll love his character. Can't wait to see what's next. This was a really great book and I hope you will take the time to read it.
