‘NIGHTLINE’ DELIVERS ITS LARGEST OVERALL AUDIENCE IN 7 WEEKS
‘Nightline’ Grows Week to Week in Total Viewers (+9%) and Adults 25-54 (+13%)
Season to Date, ‘Nightline’ Is Beating CBS’ ‘The Late Late Show with James Corden’ in Adults 25-54 and Adults 18-49 for 6th Straight Year

ABC News’ “Nightline” averaged 733,000 Total Viewers, 188,000 Adults 25-54 and 132,000 Adults 18-49 for the week of Sept. 6, 2021, based on Live + Same Day Data from Nielsen Media Research.
“Nightline” outperformed “CBS’ “The Late Late Show with James Corden” (175,000 and 109,000, respectively) in Adults 25-54 (+13,000) and Adults 18-49 (+23,000).
“Nightline” turned in increases week to week in Total Viewers (+9% - 733,000 vs. 672,000) and Adults 25-54 (+13% - 188,000 vs. 167,000), drawing its largest overall audience in 7 weeks — since w/o 7/19/21.
Season to date, “Nightline” (276,000 and 194,000, respectively) is beating CBS’ “The Late Late Show with James Corden” (239,000 and 169,000, respectively) in Adults 25-54 (+37,000) and Adults 18-49 (+26,000) for the 6th straight year — since the 2015-2016 season.
Last week “Nightline” featured stories on Brehanna Daniels, the first Black woman to join a NASCAR pit crew; Texas’ new restrictive abortion law; Theranos founder Elizabeth Holmes’ fraud trial, beginning in California; and the passing of actor Michael K. Williams.
NOTE: On Labor Day (9/6/21), “Nightline,” CBS’ “The Late Late Show with James Corden” and NBC’s “Late Night with Seth Meyers” were coded as specials. In addition, CBS’ “The Late Late Show with James Corden” was retitled to “Late Late Show-JC-ENC” and NBC’s “Late Night with Seth Meyers” was retitled to “Seth Meyers-SM” on Friday (9/10/21) due to being repeats. The specialed and retitled telecasts are not included in the weekly and season averages. ABC’s weekly averages are based on four days (Tuesday-Friday), while CBS’ and NBC’s weekly averages are based on three days (Tuesday-Thursday).
