Holiday Kitchen

Learning, food and play for families when they need it most.

To find out whether you can access Holiday Kitchen activities in your local area, please contact your local children’s centre.

Based on a simple formula of holiday learning, food and play for families when they need it most, Holiday Kitchen offers a 12-day family well-being programme that works directly to address these holiday challenges.

Run for pre-school and primary school children, this includes breakfasts or snacks, nutritious communal lunches and a half-day educational play activity each day. Parents and carers are supported to take an active role in activities alongside their children.

Through creative and fun family learning activities, we are committed to:

  • Raising attainment, by giving disadvantaged children access to a range of enrichment activities
  • Improving the eating habits and levels of physical activity of participating children
  • Providing opportunities for family learning and parental engagement in children’s education
  • Improving access to healthy food during school holidays

The programme is not a drop-in service but requires families to register for the full programme and aims to complement existing services and work with families that may already be receiving support from agencies.

In particular, Holiday Kitchen can support improving outcomes relating to early help and health improvement.

Book your place on the Holiday Kitchen by phoning your local children’s centre.  Not sure which Children’s Centre is nearest to you?  Use our postcode checker to find out the telephone number and address.
