Explore COVID-19 Resources

_____

Infectious diseases: Be aware of risks

COVID-19: Understand your individual risk. Though COVID-19 is still present, you can take measures to protect yourself and your community.

hMPXV (Monkeypox): This viral disease can spread between people or certain animals. Follow the recommended prevention steps.

Influenza: A contagious respiratory illness. The best way to prevent flu is by getting a vaccine.

_____

Nutrition: Make healthful eating choices

Be a mindful eater. Notice when you are hungry and full and how you feel when you eat certain foods. Take time to enjoy food and eat with others. Plan meals and make a list before you shop. Stock up on nutritious foods you’re more likely to eat and rely less on takeout or fast foods.

In Corvallis, University Housing & Dining Services can help address dietary needs and nutrition information, and the Basic Needs Center can help with food support. Similar resources are available in Bend too.

_____

Movement: Good for the body and mind

Being in nature can help improve your physical health and sense of well-being. Time outside also supports cognitive function, stress management and promotes a positive state of mind. Set a goal to spend at least 20 minutes outside every day.

Everyone in Oregon can enjoy local parks and hiking areas. In addition, OSU students and employees can take advantage of physical activity classes and sports clubs in Corvallis and Bend. Group activities help widen your social connections too.

_____

Mental wellness: We all need help at times

Take breaks throughout the day with several deep breaths and the intention to connect with your surroundings (re-set). When you inhale, think of what you are grateful for or something you appreciate about the day. When you exhale, let go of any tension, worry or blame.

Identify your emotional support network and reach out to those you can talk to when things are difficult. Friends, family members, professors, advisors and counselors are part of that support network. If you feel overwhelmed, students can call Counseling & Psychological Services (Corvallis) or the Counseling Clinic (Bend), and employees can utilize benefits. Help is available to provide the support, tools and connections needed to get you through difficult times.
