“ABOUT THE ARTIST”

Daniel Hoffbauer is currently a resident of Bella Vista Arkansas—having moved to NW Arkansas in 2018 from Southern California. Dan has been a Civil War enthusiast and student of history all his life, but for 35 years had artist’s block until his visit to the Pea Ridge battlefield on March 8, 2020, inspired him to start painting anew after the COVID crisis hit the following week.
His four paintings being exhibited are scenes from the Battle of Pea Ridge and include the First Iowa Battery in action north of Elkhorn Tavern, “Charge” which shows the Confederate cavalry charge at Foster’s Farm in the opening action of the battle, “Nightfall” which shows the chaos and suffering around Elkhorn Tavern on the night of March 7, 1862, and “Front Rank, Ready, Aim…” which depicts combat at Clemens Field.

Dan has also completed two paintings on the Battle of Prairie Grove (currently being exhibited at Hindman Hall) and the “Action at Fayetteville 1863” which is on exhibit at the Headquarters House in Fayetteville. Dan is actively working on new projects.

Dan has a website on Etsy—DansCivilWarArt—where he offers signed prints for sale of all his work. He is also a full-time Realtor with HomeQuest Realty, the Curtis Realty Group.
